Donald Robertson

Before settling down in tony Montecito, artist and all-around creative Donald Robertson — aka Donald Drawbertson — dabbled in everything from fine art to cosmetics to publishing. In the ’80s, he assisted with the creative direction of MAC Cosmetics, having been introduced to the then-small makeup line’s founders after dropping out of art school. In the ’90s, he worked in the art department at Hearst, helping to launch Marie Claire, and at Condé Nast, where he worked on Glamour. In 2007, he transitioned back into the cosmetics world as creative director for Estée Lauder Companies, all the while collaborating on his own artistic endeavors with brands like J. Crew, Canada Goose, Warby Parker and S’well Bottle. Nominated for “Instagrammer of the Year” by the CFDA for his @donalddrawbertson account, he is also the author of the children’s book Mitford at the Fashion Zoo, as well as Donald: The Book, which features a colorful collection of his works and insights from his storied career.
